Power Systems Engineer

Our client is a leading integrator of smart grid solutions including engineering, metering, demand response and energy management solutions for energy producers, consumers and distributors.  They are a progressive, dynamic and rapidly growing company that is well positioned in the dynamic North American energy services market.

In the role of Project Engineer-Power Systems, you will join a leader in the North American energy services market.   You will be providing engineering services for our utility, generation, commercial and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

In the areas of power systems, metering, project and energy management, your responsibilities will include:

• Engineering design and calculations for connecting loads, distribution utilities and generation.
• Engineering reports and studies related to metering, electrical system optimization and generation connection impact assessments.
• Connection Impact Assessments for embedded generators connecting to electrical distribution and transmission system.
• Preparing wiring schematics and drawings for power, metering and communications systems.
• Project management for a variety of renewable generation and other engineering projects.
• Field audits and technical proposals.
• Ensuring engineering is compliant with contract and regulatory requirements.
• Managing technical documentation.
• Designs and engineers electrical distribution systems, which would include switchgear, metering, protection, etc...
• Stamps and signs engineering drawings with P.Eng stamp
• Perform and review power systems studies.
• Respond to and resolve customer requirements.

Qualifications

In addition to being a customer and results oriented individual, you are:

• An innovative thinker with strong English written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledgeable and experienced in power distribution, generation and metering.
• A graduate of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering program or equivalent.
• Must be a licensed P.Eng. with the PEO or eligible for (or working towards) registration.
• Experienced in MS Office, AutoCAD, mathCAD and other load flow and engineering software.
• Driving licence essential.
