Description
 

Protection and Control Management Information System (PCMIS) is a web-based solution used by our client to manage information and configurations relating to protection, control, telecom and monitoring equipment. This implementation is an on-going multi-stage project and this assignment is primarily directed at the implementation/updating of BES protection systems’ settings and control and monitoring equipment system configuration into PCMIS. 

 

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

·        Professional Electrical Engineer (or eligible for accreditation per the APEO) or certified Electrical Engineering Technologist (or eligible for certification per OACETT).

·        Two to four years experience in the specification, manufacture, testing and maintenance of P&C systems.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of P&C systems as gained through engineering design or practical field experience.

·        Understanding of the characteristics of P&C systems.

·        Project management skills and experience.

·        Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. NPCC, IMO) and Hydro One standards including market rules in P&C design and maintenance.

·        Understanding of a wide range of P&C equipment including fault recording devices, protection equipment (e.g. electro-mechanical/electronic relays, digital relays and the integration of protection and control systems, and special protection systems).

·        Demonstrated knowledge of tools and techniques associated with configuration management of protection and control equipment.

 

 

Essential Competencies:

·        Good oral, written, and listening skills.

·        Ability to analyze complex problems in P&C systems and recommend solutions.

·        Ability to provide leadership and technical direction to a team working on this project.

·        Good interpersonal skills to be able to establish respect and rapport with (field) staff and project an air of assertiveness and confidence with consistency of approach.

·        Self-starter, capable of working with little supervision given only general direction.

·        Ability to prepare and delivery training for PCMIS users and for staff assigned to the project

·        Ability to manage an IT-based project

 

Quantity Required: 1

 

It is estimated that two people (one full time, another partial) are required to perform the work associated with this function.

 

Duties:

 

1.       Provide support for migration of P&C information from legacy systems to the new system.

2.       Perform quality assurance checks to validate the work of others.

  1. Provide recommendations for on-going improvements to the system.
  2. Prepare documentation related to problem identification and resolution
  3. Perform training to familiarize new PCMIS team members (i.e. Co-op students) with Hydro One P&C equipment and PCMIS.
  4. Mentor staff performing PCMIS roles.
  5. Update project schedules and prepare activity reports as required.

 

 

Hours of Work

8:00 to 16:00 (40 hours per week) (Flexible start and finish times are negotiable).

 

Duration:

 Up to 36 months

 

Start Date: Aug 2010          Finish Date: Aug 2013

 

Deliverables:

 

·        Migration/update of P&C equipment information from legacy systems to the new system

·        Training and documentation

·        Reconciliation of the PCMIS information with information in other Hydro One systems.

·        Summary reports as required

·        Bi-weekly review of project schedules and progress report

·        Weekly time reporting
